  • 1-2 teaspoons of Milk Kefir Grains
  • 2-4 cups of ( goat or cow ) milk
  • 1 glass jar
  • A non-metal stirring utensil
  • A breathable cover for the jar such as a paper towel
  • A band to secure the cover to the jar
  • FINE MESH NYLON STRAINER

Homemade Kefir Recipe

  1. Put Kefir Grains in a glass jar and pour in the milk
  2. Cover the jar with a breathable cover and secure it with a rubber band
  3. Place in a warm spot, 68°- 85° F
  4. Leave it to culture for 24 hours ( in warmer temperatures it takes less )
  5. Every few hours shake the glass
  6. When the milk changes the texture, separate Kefir Grains from the finished Kefir
  7. Place the kefir grains in a new batch of milk
  8. Drink up to 4 cups of kefir a day

When your KEFIR GRAINS grows in size, you may choose to remove the kefir grains by clean hand or non- metallic utility (wooden or plastic spoon ). Do not rinse Kefir Grains with water and always use non- metallic utility!

It’s recommended to take one week of a break after 3 weeks of drinking Kefir. Cold temperatures slow the culturing process, so the refrigerator is a good place to store grains for up to 3 weeks. Just put Kefir Grains in double amount of milk as usual and put a tight lid on the container. After your break is over, put kefir grains in a new batch of milk and place it in a warm spot. It could take a couple of batches for grains to wake up!
